XFL apparently won’t be embracing old-school football
With the NFL consistently making the game safer (to the chagrin of plenty of fans) and with XFL founder Vince McMahon vowing to give the fans what they want, could the resurrected renegade league decide to turn the clock back to the 1980s and play old-school football?
Apparently not, based on recent comments from new XFL Commissioner Oliver Luck.
So if any football league will be saying, Everyone knows the risks, the players accept the risks, let’s play football like it used to be played, it apparently won’t be the XFL.
The Quinnipiac University Poll said 70 percent of Republicans, compared with 31 percent of independents and 11 percent of Democrats, felt such protests were unpatriotic.
Nationally, 58 percent disagreed with the president and said the actions were not unpatriotic. Just 35 percent said they were.
In addition, a majority of voters, 53 percent, said players had Cheap Elite Jerseys the right to protest on the field, while 43 percent said they did not. And 51 percent opposed Cheap Football Jerseys fining players who kneeled during the anthem, compared with 44 percent who backed it.
We are a team and we want to do everything as a team, running back Tevin Coleman said. We have to go out there and fight for each other. That just brings a lot of relationship together with the players.
It’s a smart way to spin a potential distraction into a positive — as long as the players are indeed committed to uniformly adopting whatever approach they decide among themselves to use. Of the three choices, standing together for the anthem seems like the most likely outcome.
If it’s one of the other two, the Falcons will definitely be faced with plenty of questions that could morph into very real distractions.
